The very name conjures up images of pounding hooves, endless plains and a multitude of animals. Alas we were not in the Serengeti to witness the famed migration, but that didn’t stop us from seeing a wide variety of both animals and birds.

While we were there for just two nights, we managed to fit in a morning balloon flight, see a leopard up a tree with its latest kill (a young lion whose mother wailed from a nearby rock outcrop) and had dinner outside while a hyena casually wandered across the campsite just a few meters away.

Here’s a quick gallery on some of the sights we managed to capture.

I can’t help feeling how lucky I have been to witness all these wonderful creatures and how I want generations to come to also be able to have the same experience.

I will be posting more images below, especially of the many lions we saw.
